Wondering how people successfully practice their skills
Since one of the purposes of this blog is engaging with people by writing, I'd like to ask people on here about something I have a huge interest in. In one of my earlier posts, I said that I am into self-improvement, and my definition of that is mostly improving on one's skills. How do you practice your writing, for example? I'm curious if there are any difficult mental exercises to do besides reading. I'm really a believer in them when it comes to improving whatever it is you're trying to improve. Because of this I've been playing minesweeper along with completing expert difficulty puzzles to improve on my problem-solving and logic. Some people say abilities to solve puzzles don't translate well into different but related abilities, but I think the opposite. I think puzzles help improve adjacent skills, not to the same extent as the skill to solve the puzzle, but it's still effective in making a difference. I'd say I've gotten better at minesweeper because I have been constantly challenging my brain with hard new problems in the form of puzzles.
That's why I took up blogging, it's a way for me to train myself to express myself concisely which is obviously not my strongest suit right now. I view language in a logical way rather than grammatical. Meaning I have the meaning of each word in my head and as if I was programming an if statement, I'm putting those meanings together. Sometimes missing a few grammatical errors. But anyway, if you were to respond to this, there is an email button on my page. Thank you in advance.
